If any of you follow our Instagram account, you probably saw how sick I was throughout the first half of my pregnancy. Let me start this by saying, I do not deal with pregnancy very well. I get sick, I get moody, I get irrational, I get more sick, etc. For some reason, pregnancy doesn't look so good on me (lol). Fortunately, I have a husband who gets it, and helps me through! When I was pregnant with Aubree, I was sick for eight months straight. It was miserable. I lost so much weight that I never gained a single pound through that pregnancy. This pregnancy has been a bit better, but I still dealt with horrible morning sickness for the first half. I thought I would put together a little list for any of you mommas suffering with nasty morning sickness!

1) Take your prenatals at NIGHT! These little pills killed me, you guys. I was to the point where I could not choke them down to save my life. I started taking them at night and it made a huge difference. I still had trouble swallowing pills (mind you, I couldn't even swallow water half the time) but it definitely helped. Also, if you're struggling with prenatals, try the gummies! I found that the gummies were much easier to get down!
2) Citrus Fruits - When I was pregnant with Aubree, I noticed that the one thing I could tolerate was citrus fruits. As gross as it sounds, it tasted decent coming back up! With my current pregnancy, I tried keeping oranges next to my bed at night for those middle of the night nasty spells AND IT WORKED. Everyone always tells you to keep crackers by your bed, but no joke, try an orange! Something about the smell and the refreshing juices in my throat was perfect at night!
3) ALL THE ICE WATER - I'm talking super, super cold ice water. Morning sickness always comes with dehydration. So, keeping water on hand all the time is crucial. However, water can sound DISGUSTING when you're sick, so keep it as cold as possible! Grab a Yeti or some kind of water bottle that'll keep it chilled and chug-a-lug, babe! I noticed that my body got crampy and weak when I was dehydrated which brought on more morning sickness and fatigue. So, I tried to drink super cold ice water constantly.
4) Peppermint - I literally think I chewed peppermint gum every second of my life for the first half of this pregnancy.
5) Find a lotion scent you can tolerate - This one might sound silly, but I'm dead serious when I say when you smell something you like, you can tolerate getting sick! I could not STAND the smell of my coconut lotion at the beginning of this pregnancy. I literally thought I would puke every time I smelled it. However, I found a random scent at the back of my bathroom closet that I gravitated to. I kept that lotion near me all the time just in case I started to get sick. It never prevented me from puking or getting ill, but it made it more bearable! I smelled it after I got sick and felt immensely better. Sometimes, we just need a little happiness via smelly-good lotion to take the fatigue away.
6) Go outside - This one is so much easier said than done, but it worked for me! Getting some fresh air was huge for me during my first pregnancy. One of the only things that made my sickness and fatigue go away for a bit was walking around outside. Now, in the dead of summer or the dead of winter in Minnesota, I do not recommend. However, the majority of the year, a couple minutes outside might do the trick! If it's summer, dip your toes in some water! It feels amazing, and even if it doesn't take the sickness away, you might forget about it for a minute!

Morning sickness sucks, and unfortunately, it usually happens throughout the entire day. If that's the case for you, give one of these tricks a try!
